Adam, this is a note I sent you on myspace before I realized that you haven't logged into the site in over a year. Just thought I'd post it here as I feel that it's important to read. Many thanks.

Subject: You as a DJ

Body: Adam, you've been one of my all time favorite DJs since I first heard you in 2002. I have a Psy-Trance mix of yours that was recorded on 7-9-2003. It instantly became one of my all-time favorites and I've been listening to it regularly ever since. Even after all of these years, it never gets old. The track selection is unlike any I've heard, and I've heard 'em all.

You're defnitely up there with the top Israeli Producers/DJs--Astral Projection, Astrix, Chakra, Xerox and Illumination, Protoculture (South Africa), Fatali, etc... At least in my opinion. I was disappointed to learn that you've retired as a DJ, although I'm thankful that you offer downloads of your fantastic mixes and tracks. How awesome is that?!?! Anyway, just thought you might like to know what an influence and inspiration you've been to me musically. If it wasn't for DJs like you (very few) I wouldn't have been so in love with the music for so many years.

What a wonderful article and so very true in good relationships. I feel, realistically, to have a love relationship, you've first got to have a like relationship.
Being a romance writer, let me take a brief moment and promote my new book,"Beth:Love along The Way...by B.G.Sanford," andd just released by Eloquent Books. It's the story of one woman overcoming all odds including two divorces, to find true Love........Along The Way. It's an amazing story you won't soon forget. You can order it off the web, or have your favorite book store order it for you.
All my best,
B.G.Sanford

Sure.

Metric units are in increments of 10, which makes quick arithmetic easy. A kilometer is 1,000 meters. A mile is 5,280 feet. Which is saner?

Standard prefixes: kilo = 1000, centi = 1/100, milli = 1/1000, and so on. So centimeter, meter, and kilometer are normalized and predictable; inch, yard, and mile require memorizing odd multipliers. (A yard is 36 inches, a mile is 1760 yards.)

The base values are derived from logical sources. For example, a kilogram is defined as the weight of one cubic meter of pure water. Centigrade is defined as 0 degrees at the freezing temperature of water, and 100 degrees at its boiling temperature. Compare that to Fahrenheit, which puts water freezing and 32 degress and boiling at 212 degrees.

Standardization: it's what science and most of the planet use. Conforming to standards is valuable for cooperation and compatibility.

The one good argument I've seen for the imperial measurement system is that inches are useful in carpentry, where you very often want to bisect a length. Since inches typically break down by halves (1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16) this makes it easier to bisect things at small sizes than a decimal system like centimeters / millimeters.

Define "better" please?

I think if one is used to a system, then it works for them.

I do think standards are a good thing and standards work best when everyone adopts them.

But other than for scientific and engineering applications, I don't think there is any inherent difference in what units of measure are used.

I would be curious if you could point to a study showing that metric units are more naturally intuitive to the way human perception works.

Perhaps then I might agree that they are objectively "better".

I look forward to it as well, and it is slowly coming, but it is so deep rooted now that it's going to be hard to gouge out. Especially when you have religious fundamentalists continuing to support this neo-prohibition (much like they did alcohol prohibition 75 odd years ago).

Oh one more thing...

Just because a tradition *works* to some extent does not mean that better ways haven't come along.

That is the risk of holding a tradition just because it's a tradition.

I'm sure you know this, but this is an important point for people to understand if they tend to believe traditions.
