First of all, the project is now designated with it's official title, Ascension. (Name credit goes to William.) The working title, Spirit Journey, is now deprecated and we will laugh and point if you continue to use that name. There is also a new URL: http://dusk.org/ascension/

We are renting the main room at Club Mobius to stage our project. This is a great workspace: roomy, secure, and protected from the elements. It will be available for our use evenings and weekends from now until we are ready to leave for the Playa.

The trussing is scheduled to arrive the week after Orange Camp, probably on 6/27. We will assemble it that weekend, 6/28-6/29. This will also serve as a deadline for area leaders: we'll expect you to have something substantial to bring and put on the test build by that date. I believe most of you have completed your designs; get the material pricing to me and we will make the purchase so that you can begin your artwork.

We are extremely excited. If you're not yet, you will be when you see it. :)

First let me say that I was really thirlled with the results of our meeting. This is a pretty big undertaking, but you all showed me at the meeting that we've got a core group kick ass enough to do the job.

And now, welcome to the new spirit journey art project page. To your right you will notice three handy dandy links that will guide you through the site. This is the news page, where you will find the latest and greatest updates regarding the project. Next you'll see the ambiguously named stuff section. There you will find the current list of areas, components, and tasks. The final link will take you to the illustrated concept description of the project.

Now that we've all had a chance to let the ideas and thoughts run around our brains for a bit, we need to start working on some firm plans. That means, if you have ideas for an area, or something specific you want to contribute, talk to the person in charge of the area and / or discuss them on the list. If you're in charge of an area, you should have a pretty good idea of your final vision pretty soon, so you can start getting together a list of all of the components and tasks needed to make it happen.

Once we have a list of all of the components we need we can start running out to get things priced. Area leaders - let us know what you'll be able to handle here and where you need a hand.

It's crazy how fast the clock is ticking here. Luckily you guys have got me excited enough keep me from getting all panicky. ;-)
